Certificate in Herbal Studies
The Certificate in Herbal Studies is a part-time 12 month study course offered by distance learning with 3x 1day classes offered every six months during year. It is also now available to international students via correspondence, please see our 'Enrolment and Fees' page for fee information. The Certificate in Herbal Studies is an interest course for those in the natural health industry or for those who wish to learn more about Herbal Medicine for their own use. It's also a great way to introduce yourself to how the Centre approaches Herbal Medicine study before committing to the 3-year Diploma in Herbal Medicine course. Please note the Certificate course does not qualifiy students to be practitioners, and is also not cross-creditable to the Diploma in Herbal Medicine course. The Certificate teaches identification and medicinal uses of 50 herbs, as well as medicinal preparation, Philosophy of Herbal Medicine, Introduction to Botany, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and treatment of common health conditions using Herbal Medicine. Each has 1 or 2 assignments and all work must be completed to a satisfactory level to gain the Certificate in Herbal Studies. It is intended that the material is studied at your own pace, although a guideline for completion of this course is 12 months. It is advisable for you to grow as many of the herbs you learn about as possible to enable identification and personal experiences with them along the way - some things just cannot be taught! Students are invited to attend 3x 1day classes per enrolment where you will participate in hands-on activities prepared by your tutor to enhance your experience with practical application, these classes are repeated every six months.
